Bio and Artist Statement
I am a fine art photographer whose images (except for the documentary series taken in India) emphasize form and composition (lines, shapes, color, spatial relationships, etc), with the subject matter playing a secondary role but intended to add some emotive/social content. I am sometimes called a “reductionist” since I tend through camera techniques or post-processing to reduce the amount of information in the photo to the key visual information I am interested in emphasizing for the viewer (ergo the title of the current series as “SF Essentials”). When people appear in my photos, however, they are as seen--documentary. I process and print my own photos, archival prints, using digital technology and software (Lightroom and Photoshop).
